The difference between progress and frustration rarely comes from effort alone; it shows up first in how we defend our calendar. Small, early decisions shape the whole day. What gets scheduled first tends to get done. What gets left to “later” usually doesn’t.

As we turn the page into a new year, it’s tempting to stack goals, commitments, and projects as if volume equals progress. But time has a way of editing our lives for us. Three years from now, most of what fills this week’s calendar will be gone from memory.
